“Ahab said to Elijah: ‘So you have found me, my enemy’” (1 Kings 21:20).
The man or woman determined to ignore God’s claim upon them, and live as if their God is themselves, will learn that the universe does not concur. Far from vanishing from the horizon of an evil person, good stays around to haunt, hinder and frustrate. Decency, truth and justice are ever the enemy of those who seek to subvert or out-manoeuvre them. Yes, it often appears that crime pays well. But this is an illusion. The wicked know that their ‘enemy’ is watching them; and they will be found.
