Stay Awake

The Bible warns us to stay awake and alert to what is going on in the world around us, and in our lives.
I was recently travelling as a passenger by car in Georgia in Eastern Europe.
It was two in the morning and everyone was sleeping… except me and the driver … and I noticed that the driver was getting sleepy.
But it was when we swerved onto the wrong side of the road, facing the oncoming headlights of another vehicle, that I decided it was time to act.
So I started to talk to the driver about something that would interest him and get him thinking. We had a great conversation!
It’s easy in life to simply ignore what’s happening around us. But the Bible warns us to stay awake and alert to what is going on in the world around us, and in our lives. There’s all sorts of dangers for those who sleep, or just go with the flow. Actually, the way the Bible puts it is that we should “watch and pray.” Not bad advice at all.
